This is in the for sale section already, but wanted to get it in here for those that might not see it there.

Yes, this is for real this time. I have finally broken down and am selling the Civic. Having two performance cars, both two door vehicles with pretty much no backseat space, is just not practical for me any more. As I stated previously, many know this car and many know how I maintain my cars. That being said, this has been my daily driver the over 5 years now, so don't expect the paint on the front end to be spotless, but it is in good condition for its age. The only bad spot is on the front lip wear I did slightly scrape a curb which also got the wheel just a tad. I will add these pictures to the post after I take them this afternoon. The car has never been in an accident and has a clean title that is in my hands. I am the only owner of the car and the first driver. (car had 8 miles off the truck, never test driven.)

The car blows no smoke and still burns the standard amount of oil for a K-Series motor. Gas mileage with Jay's tune for the car is still a great 27-30 MPG. I have the tune file for the K-Pro as well which will be given to the buyer on purchase. I also have a few extra parts that will go with the car if wanted. All tuning, head work, and clutch was done by Jay while he was at Carter Racing. The valvetrain was replaced in the car when I bent all the exhaust valves on a free spin over-rev shifting from 3rd to 4th. Jay checked the motor when he had the head off and found no other problems.

The car has 111,000 miles on it. Oil was changed every 3-4K miles with Mobile 1/Pensoil Platinum 5W-30 or 10W-30 Full Synthetic oil. I changed the oil in the supercharger about 15K miles ago and GM Synchromech MTF was used when Jay did the clutch for me. I will have the air conditioner serviced and brakes flushed before buyer takes delivery of the car. New brake pads were put on the car ~10-12K miles ago. Below are some pics and the entire mod list for the car. My asking price, as is including some extra parts is $11,000. Kelly's BB private party value for the car is $7965, so you are getting a lot for your money in a ready to drive and fully operational car.

So I just had a guy on ephatch.com offer me to trade for an AE86 w/ a red top motor + cash for my EP. I know what the car is, but I have no idea about the motors. Would any of the Toyota guys please educate me about this...lol?

I stand corrected

the "red top" came out of the second generation of 4A-GE engine for the AE92

"The first edition 4A-GE, the ones that came in AW11 NA, AE86, AE92 (1988-89) can be distinguished primarily by the head design. It was the only version that utilized the TVIS system which opened and closed the secondary runners depending on driving conditions. Some refer to them as "blue hat" due to the blue lettering that were used on the valve covers. However, this designation isn't entirely accurate as early AE92 with TVIS had red letters as well as some other models that used this engine. These are frequently mistaken for the later generation engines which also used the "red hat" valve covers. These covers are also interchangeable so it's hardly a way to distinguish these motors that are worked on so much... The early 8-port TVIS engines are still in demand today for low budget tuning for those who enjoy reaching high rpms with the use of carburetors. Though the connecting rods journals and pins are smaller than the later models, the components are lighter than the latter motors and in stock form, tends to feel better at the top. The TVIS when operated properly (factory ECU or via external controllers) can add great deal of drivability in low and mid ranges of the rpm and is effective for using high profile cams and keeping it still streetable. It still is the heart and soul for many AE86 and AW11 owners, and is by no means a bad engine if engine feel is your pleasure. A nicely balanced and ported TVIS head can be had for cheaper than any other head with very good results for use on normally aspirated use."

check here for specs...

good luck!

any 4age is decent, but I think their reputation is built on the latter models, with 20 valve heads, individual throttle bodies, and an easily achievable 200hp.
a good read about modifying the 4age: http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods.htm#220hp

I beg to differ^ I believe the herritage and reputation in the toyota community surrounding the 4age is based from when the formula atlantic series adopted the motors in 1989 into their racing series which boasted extremly high redlines with increditable power to liter ratio...

your right on that one. You could buy a formula atlantic motor up until a few years ago. They may still be around but the 20v is the way to go anyway

Thanks for the info guys. Well it looks like I might just be parting the EP out and keeping it. No real bites anywhere for an out right buy. The car in its current form is just a bitch around stop and go traffic so I am going to dump the blower, put the stock header and cat back on, probably swap the clutch disc for a full face disc, and put stock injectors back. For now I will keep the K-Pro in the instance that a few years down the road I actually decide to build the car again. One thing is for sure; IF I do decide to build it later, it will be a K20A2 w/ 6-speed and it WILL be turbo. Only time will tell. For now, I am just totally tired of working on cars...lol
